Moong Dal Pizza is an innovative recipe which I created to combine the love for pizza and my inclination towards a healthy lifestyle. I believe in being healthy and fit by eating well and not starving.

Our family loves pizza but I do not like the all-purpose flour that goes into it. I try to create healthy versions of any dish that we like. In this recipe, I changed the all-purpose flour base to moong dal base which makes this dish healthy. This makes a healthy, delicious, gluten-free and keto pizza.

If you use cashew cheese in place of the milk-based cheese, you can serve it as a vegan pizza.

Vegetarians lack options for protein and lentils/dals are the best way to compensate the protein in daily diet. It gets boring to consume dal the same way in daily meals and the amount of protein that the body requires is not enough in one small bowl of cooked dal. Moong dal pizza is a good way to consume the required protein. The vegetable toppings and cheese give the added nutritional value.

You can prepare this pizza without oven on tawa.

What makes it healthy –

Moong dal is rich in protein and very light to digest. The vegetables give the added nutrition and cheese gives the benefit of calcium content in it.

Things to keep in mind while making pizza –

1. Make sure the moong dal is well fermented. If not, add fruit salt to it.
2. Cook on a low flame so that the base is well cooked from within. Else it will cook from outside keeping the batter uncooked from inside.
3. Prepare it on a heavy bottom pan to cook evenly.
4. Cover and cook, flip only when the bottom is well cooked.
5. You can pre-cook the vegetables if you want. I like the crunch in vegetables hence I cook directly on the pizza.
