Kopp, Koregaon Park, Pune
The ambiance is simple yet classy. It has both indoor and outdoor sections. Indoor has a classy interior with a comfortable seating and bar section. Outdoor is uniquely designed to give a colorful ambiance. It’s a peaceful place, where you can enjoy your meal while having a quality time.
We got a chance to have a word with 'Chef Kanishka Kamat'. The knowledge he holds about food, nutrition and techniques is commendable. He not only makes sure the dishes that arrive on table are delicious but also takes care of the health aspect as well. That’s the reason major of the ingredients in the Kopp’s kitchen comes from local produce to keep the freshness and flavors intact in the dishes.
The food has got a makeover here, most of the dishes will surprise you. Specially the burgers, which are huge, juicy, messy & doesn’t come with a patty. Bannocks is another delicious dish. I’m surely going to try every vegetarian dish from the menu. Desserts here are to die for.
We started off with the mocktails –
Watermelon Basil – The ever so refreshing watermelon with basil never fails to impress. This is all you need on a hot day to sip on and enjoy.
Cold Coffee – Nothing can go wrong with a cold coffee. Perfectly balanced strong cold coffee is sure to hit your senses.
Virgin Sangria – Yes, you read it right, this place aamazing sangria without alcohol. The blend of grape juice and apple with the chunks of apple was a perfect drink to start off.
Such start with the mocktails raised our expectations with the food as well –
Bannock – Originating in Scotland, Bannock is basically a flat bread, traditionally prepared on a griddle called Bannock stone. Served in pieces with different toppings. The one we tried had peppers, my favorite mushrooms and onions. The crisp edges and soft base with flavorful toppings and sauce makes this dish a must try.
Paneer Burger – The huge, juicy and messy burger is served along with potato wedges and coleslaw salad. The specialty of Kopp burgers is its size, sauce and mess. This burger came without patty. Had soft, melt in mouth paneer chunks dipped in creamy red sauce. The size is too huge to finish on my own or just to have this for a meal and I’m good to go.
Maharashtrian style potato Gnocchi with Pumpkin Puree – Gnocchi is small cylindrical ball prepared with potato and cheese to get a melt in mouth texture and served in sauce. Every place has their own version of gnocchi. Every place serves it differently with different flavors as per choice. The version of gnocchi at Kopp is quite unique and Indianized. It had a spicy kick of chili with creamy pumpkin puree to along with it.
Cottage Cheese & Onion Steamed Buns – Cotton like white and soft steamed buns stuffed with paneer bhurji didn’t impress me much from taste perspective but surely health perspective. The stuffing was delicious, but I like my buns to be crisp.
Desserts -
For the reason why, Kopp has become the talk of the down. The delicious dessert that this place has to offer, makes it a must visit for me. From pannacotta to cheesecake to chocolate cigar to in-house prepared ice cerams. Every single dessert is lip smacking specially the icecreams are to die for. I surely wont share my part of dessert on my next visit.
Tiramisu Pannacotta & Silky Golden Sugar Candy Floss – I can hog on to this dessert like anything. Perfectly flavoured and prepared pannacotta is made using leaf gelatin which is said to be not harmful as other gelatins.
Passion Fruit Cheesecake with a Pineapple Granita – The very reason for which KOPP got featured in Troffi magazine is this cheesecake. Creamy with perfect consistency with nice passionfruit flavor.
Dark Chocolate Cigars – I would recommend this cigar to every dark chocolate lover. Chocolate crust shaped in cigar filled with rich dark chocolate mousse alongside chocolate mousse with chocolate ash.
Icecreams – I’m soon going to visit this place for their in-house prepared ice creams. The flavours in icecream are mind blowing. It just won my heart.
Paan & Gulkand – Fresh paan and gulkand flavor. Rich and creamy. Loved it.
Paprika Chilli and Guava – This icecream have my heart. It was just mind blowing and I loved it.
Coffee Rum & Dark Chocolate – Creamy and had rich flavor of coffee well blended with chocolate.
