Food is something that just doesn’t limit to sense of taste but and it’s an experience of multiple senses. This place ensures you to have such experience right from the time you enter. As soon as you are seated you are welcomed in a unique way by pouring warm orange essence on a dry ice to fill your table with the magical aroma and there begins your gastronomical experience.
Gastronomy is the study of relationship between food and culture. It is the real art of preparing and serving simple food in an artistic way to give an enchanted experience.
The Celebrity Chef Ajay Chopra is the man behind this experimental yet amazing food. When recipes are put together, the kitchen becomes chemical laboratory involving air, water and fire. Such successful experiments are visible on the menu. The dishes clearly reflect his image the way he cooks on his shows.
This place is worth visiting on special occasions to make your day even more special. Its magical from start till end. Even the finger bowl, mouth freshener are brought in a style. Let’s keep some surprise element for your visit as somethings cannot be expressed but only experienced.
We were hosted by Chef Vikrant who was generous enough to give us time during peak restaurant hours and explained each dish. He surely has done justice to the Chef Ajay Chopra’s recipes. Recipes can do their magic only when it’s prepared the right way.
We tried few things from the menu starting with the mocktails –
Virgin Double Lime – The perfect blend of litchi, lemongrass and lime. Simplicity does the magic when it comes to food and drinks. Every sip was filled with freshness of lime and litchi. A perfect start to the eve.
Orange Slush – Perfect for a hot day. Such a beautiful drink. Strong orange flavor with mild sweetness gets you refreshed.
Citrus Bhel – Expect the unexpected at this place. When street side food is served in a style it gets gastronomical. The spicy, tangy bhel with a twist of citrus by the addition of orange and pomegranate seeds. Garnished with sour cream quenelle and balsamic vinegar pearls.
Spicy Canton Broth – For those who like spicy, sour and tangy flavor must try this. Steamed veg dumplings with other veggies like mushrooms and broccoli, topped with glass noodles served with broth flavored with Chinese greens, ginger and soy. The spiciness of chili, sourness of vinegar with the kick of ginger and bite of dumplings gave this broth a burst of flavor in each sip.
Broccoli Galauti – Even the vegetarians can enjoy the “Galauti”. The melt in mouth broccoli galauti was topped with saffron foam to give it the authentic feel. The texture was perfect though I felt the after taste was slightly bitter. Can give this dish a skip.
Sichuan Pepper & Vegetable Dimsum – My love for dimsums is never ending and I love the one I had here. Dough mixed with beetroot hence giving slightly sweet flavor to the covering. The filling was prepared with mixed vegetables and Sichuan peppers. The sweetness of covering, creamy yet chunky vegetables with crackling spicy Sichuan pepper made a perfect bite. Served along with couple of dips, one tomato based and the other one scallion in sesame oil. The dips added the extra flavor to the dimsums.
Veg Sri Lankan Curry – The mix of vegetables prepared in spicy coconut-based Sri Lankan curry is my new favorite. The creamy yet sweet and spicy gravy with chunks of vegetables was delicious. Th cabbage coconut rice served along made a perfect combo.
The best and most awaited course of the meal. As they say, all is well that ends well. After such an amazing start how can anything go wrong with the last course. There are some interesting desserts on the menu to catch your attention.
Cutting Chai Icecream – Eating chai is more fun than drinking it. Trust me when I say this. This dessert is for every chai lover. There could be no better fusion than this. The cardamom flavoured chai presented in the most unexpected way. Icecream scoop on the bed of crumble inside the brandy snap made with honey and glucose mixed with flour.
Hazelnut & salted Caramel Molleaux – What a beautiful dessert it was. I was awestruck with the combination of colors. Dark brown three-layered chocolate dome on a burnt sugar crisps and salted caramel sauce surrounded by red grenadine pearls. Garnished with gold vark. Super delicious and beautiful. This master piece is the example that Masterchef kind of dishes do exists and we can eat them too. Right at this place.
